What Our Clients Say
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Silicone and polyurethane begin to skin over in about 5 minutes, it takes 24 hours to set completely.
-
Silicone is a finishing product, therefore it is one of the last products to be installed after tiling and painting.
-
There are some silicone solutions on the market, however, most wet area silicone can not be painted, you’ll need to make sure all painting and staining is completed first.
-
Yes, and we recommend having polyurethane installed before painting is done for this reason.
-
The area needs to be clean, and free of dust and debris. Most importantly needs to be bone dry or the silicone will not take to the area properly.
-
You need to wait 24 hours before the silicone can get wet. This is to prevent mould growth and to give the silicone the amount of time it needs to cure properly.
-
You should caulk gaps, cracks or joints in areas where you want to keep water or air out of your home. e.g. window/door frames, sinks, taps, splashbacks, countertops, bathroom tubs, showers, along the top of a shower surround, skirting boards, where taps or pipes meet the house, and expansion joints both inside and outside.
-
For the best adhesion, we recommend removing the old silicone. New silicone will bond to old silicone, but the bond is not as strong as if it has adhered to a clean surface therefore will not last as long.
